Yard Crew
DEPARTMENT: Lincoln, NE
REPORTS TO: Yard Manager
GRADE: Non-Exempt w/OT eligible
HOURS: 7:30a/8:00a-430p/5p
Summary:
The yard crew is responsible for the unloading flatbed trailers and shipping containers of natural stone slabs (marble, granite, quartz, etc.) and pallets of tile. In addition, the yard crew fulfills order requests from 9 other locations, by moving and loading natural stone slabs, pallets of tile, and sinks on to flatbeds. Loading and unload is completed by forklift and man power. Usage of power equipment/tools is a major requirement as they aid in the construction of ‘A’ frames that hold the natural stone slabs. Along with other safety support structures is a primary function. Knowing how or learning to operate diesel and propane forklifts is a requirement. This is physical work, primarily outdoors, rain/snow or shine. Assisting with inventory, organization of the yard, and keeping the forklifts and power equipment in good condition are basic responsibilities. This position will be trained on company forklifts and cane.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas
- Load and unload both inbound and outbound material
- Tag and identify material using appropriate method
- Oversee and maintain forklift; including maintenance of log book
- Verify all equipment and material used in loading and unloading meets/exceeds company standards, and report any problems or needs to the manager
- Make sure proper straps are kept secured on all outside material at end of day
- Ensure inventory area is accessible and safe for employees and customer traffic
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned to or as operational needs dictate
· Regular reliable attendance is an essential requirement for the job, MUST be on time
· Safety is the top priority at all times
· Great communication skills and attention to details
· Able to use a computer and Microsoft office
Skills & Qualifications:
· Possession of a HS diploma
· 6-months of warehouse experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
· Able to problem solve and use sound judgement when making decisions
· Able to pivot at any given time, while being fully aware of the situation
· Able to or have used basic construction power tools
· Must be self-motivated, hardworking, team player, and have a positive attitude
· Follow Company operations and procedures
· Valid driver’s license, punctual, and highly reliable
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
· Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
· Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
· Exposed to primarily outdoor elements
· Walking and/or standing 90% of the time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
