NOW HIRING – SPOT REPAIR / RECONDITIONING TECHNICIAN
Midwest Super Store Collision Center – Hutchinson, KS
We are looking for a motivated Spot Repair / Reconditioning Technician to join our Collision Center team.
This position is focused on fast-turnaround cosmetic and light collision repairs, primarily for dealership inventory and customer-pay work. We are looking for someone who takes pride in making vehicles look great, can work independently, and understands that quality and efficiency both matter.
Job Responsibilities
The Spot Repair Technician will perform a variety of light body, paint, and reconditioning work, including:
- Bumper scuffs, scratches, and spot repairs
- Small dent and minor body repairs
- Paint chip and scratch repair
- Small panel refinishing and blend work
- Mirror cap, molding, and trim refinishing
- Minor plastic bumper repair
- Headlight restoration
- Wet sanding and buffing
- Paint correction and polishing
- Touch-up paint
- Pinstripe and decal removal
- Minor exterior cosmetic repairs
- Interior cosmetic repairs when applicable
- Vehicle detailing and final cleanup
- Minor parts removal and installation
- Preparing vehicles for the sales lot
- Identifying additional needed repairs and helping estimate/quote the work
What We're Looking For
We want someone who is a self-starter and doesn't need to be constantly told what vehicle to work on next.
The right person should be able to walk dealership inventory, identify cosmetic repairs that will improve a vehicle, communicate what needs to be done, complete the repair efficiently, and deliver a finished vehicle that is ready for the lot.
Previous experience in auto body repair, automotive paint, used-car reconditioning, SMART repair, detailing, or a similar automotive field is preferred.
Skills That Would Be a Plus
Experience with any combination of:
- Automotive painting and blending
- Minor bodywork
- Bumper and plastic repair
- Buffing and paint correction
- Detailing
- Interior repair
- Headlight restoration
- Vehicle inspection and estimating
- Used-car/dealership reconditioning
You do not have to be a full collision technician to be a great fit for this position. We are looking for someone who is especially good at the smaller repairs that can be completed quickly and profitably.
Compensation
This position is designed around a commission opportunity.
The more quality work you identify and complete, the greater your earning potential.
Target earning potential: approximately $60,000–$75,000 per year for a productive technician.
