Midwest Special Needs Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families, is seeking an enthusiastic and service-oriented Trust Specialist III to join our team. This position plays a pivotal role in helping individuals and families establish and administer Special Needs Trust sub-accounts across Missouri and neighboring states.
As part of a collaborative and mission-driven team, the Trust Specialist III helps ensure that financial resources are administered responsibly so individuals with disabilities can maintain independence and quality of life.

Core Responsibilities
Client Consultations
- Conduct consultations with prospective clients, family members, and legal representatives to determine appropriate trust agreement documents and explain trust administration.
- Review pending trust agreement documents to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to opening trust sub-accounts.
- Follow up with responsible parties regarding pending sub-accounts.
- Maintain accurate records and tracking for pending sub-accounts.
Trust Sub-Account Openings
- Assist with entering new trust sub-accounts into the trust administration platform.
- Provide support with preparation and execution of Joinder Agreements.
Inactive Trust Accounts
- Open and maintain inactive trust sub-accounts.
- Enter inactive trust account information into the administration platform.
- Conduct annual reviews of inactive accounts.
- Transition inactive accounts to active status when necessary.
Deposits
- Maintain routine deposit reports and annuity schedules.
- Perform quarterly deposit reviews and provide reports to the Director of Trust Services in the prescribed format.
Trust Administration
- Monitor investment portfolios and coordinate requested changes in accordance with policy.
- Maintain accurate trust sub-account records in both the administration platform and electronic files.
- Enter account activity notes and other data in accordance with data entry standards.
- Provide trust-related communications and documentation to responsible parties, including public benefit reviews, account statements, trust documents, tax information, and other correspondence.
- Maintain accurate paper files using the prescribed filing system.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with trust sub-account reviews.
- Support special data and administrative projects.
Trust Sub-Account Closings
- Complete all required procedures for closing trust sub-accounts, from initiation through final file retention.
- Prepare accounts for final distributions, including gathering Medicaid payback information and remainder beneficiary details.
- Review trust records and distribution histories to ensure accuracy.
- Process final distributions in accordance with trust agreements, policies, and procedures.
Marketing and Outreach
- Participate, as assigned, in marketing and promotional activities to increase awareness of trust services.
- Represent the organization at conferences, promotional events, and professional presentations.
- Assist with the setup and staffing of exhibit booths at conferences and outreach events.
Conferences and Professional Development
- Attend and participate in conferences, training, webinars, and other educational events as assigned.
- Maintain and complete any required certifications or continuing education requirements.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience and Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.
- Five to seven years of professional experience in banking, investments, insurance, trust services, disability/social services, or a related field required.
- Effective communication, organizational, and customer service skills required.
- Driver’s license required.

Pay: $57,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
