Heads-up: this is an outdoor, all-weather role that includes evenings and weekends during peak season. If that excites you, read on.
- All vessel and barge loading/unloading functions and activities
- Operate equipment: loaders, hoppers, conveyors, excavators, dryers, blenders, and more
- Oversight of preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment
- Manage all bulk salt operations including:
- Proper storage and handling
- Loading/Unloading trucks
- Raw material bulk feed production
- Ensure strict compliance with MARSEC and OSHA safety standards
- Lead daily/weekly meetings for responsible teams; measure results against KPIs and adjust plans
- Train team members on processes, equipment, and safety standards
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in port or marine operations preferred
- Experience with bulk material handling and quality control
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety compliance
- Hands-on experience operating and training equipment such as wheel loader, excavator, Bobcat, conveyors, and telestackers
- Ability to train, mentor, and lead teams with clear communication
- Ability to maneuver salt piles, climb ladders, get in and out of machines, and safely board barges
- Physically capable of outdoor, all-weather work and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Bonus: Heavy equipment certifications, MARSEC/TWIC familiarity, bilingual (English/Spanish)
Location: On-site in Chicago, IL (Port Facility)
Hours: Alternating shifts amongst the leadership team to ensure coverage.
Flexibility: Evenings, weekends, and overtime required during vessel operations and peak operation times
