Position Summary:
The Territory Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and strengthening customer relationships within an assigned territory, with a focus on the industrial and agricultural corn processing industry. This role manages and expands existing accounts while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with strong growth potential. The Territory Manager presents product and service solutions, communicates product benefits and technical capabilities, negotiates pricing, and closes sales opportunities. Additionally, this position provides technical support and on-site service to customers, serving as a trusted resource and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory is required to support customers, develop relationships, and achieve sales objectives.
Essential Job Functions:
Customer Interaction: Meeting with potential new and current customers to identify their needs and close on known opportunities.
Evaluate customer processing equipment and recommend solutions that improve reliability, safety, and productivity
Full understanding of equipment used in the corn industry related to conveyors, husking, sorting, packaging, other processing equipment etc
Promote any internal company sponsored service programs. (e.g. Belt installs, machine monitoring)
Participating in industry trade shows, supplier training events, and customer educational seminars
The employee is regularly and customarily required to perform duties outside the employer’s business location or home office. (70% )
Relationship Building: Developing and maintaining relationships with key customers ensuring stable sales as contacts change.
Conduct a minimum number of sales calls per week.
Sales Reporting: Submitting required sales reports to management in a timely manner.
Problem Resolution: Capable of identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues that arise or impede progress.
Secure quoting opportunities by providing all relevant information, including pricing strategies, via the proper channel.
Make commitments on behalf of the company and negotiate terms and conditions within established guidelines.
Develop robust relationships within our supplier base, leveraging their expertise and resources to drive sales growth and enhance customer relationships.
Actively explore opportunities to expand our product offerings within assigned accounts.
Maintain organization while handling and completing multiple priorities on an ongoing basis.
Effectively utilize technology to enhance your communications.
Create effective sales plans, strategies, and budgets for the assigned territory.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
3 years previous outside sales experience and/or proven industry experience
Demonstrated ability to learn, and understand applications, materials, manufacturing techniques, and technical specifications and prints.
Ability to take initiative to achieve target goals.
Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
Proficiency and experience in Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint Outlook, Etc.)
Strong communication, interpersonal, decision-making, and delegation skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and achieve results.
Proven experience working with suppliers.
Willingness to travel overnight for customer visits, tradeshows, conferences, training, and other company-sponsored events.
Able to follow instructions and operate independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform basic math computations regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:
In depth knowledge of the corn processing industry
Previous formal sales training desired
Environment and Physical Demands:
Work Environment:Remote with frequent travel
Physical Demands: Light Activity - some walking and light lifting up to 25 lbs
