Quality Inspector
REPORTS TO: Director of Quality
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Quality Inspector will be responsible for maintaining quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished projects. The inspector will also be responsible for recording quality results.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience using quality tools (tape measure, caliper, square, etc.)
PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVES:
Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
Approve in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor
Approve finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work
Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database
Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and maintaining calibration to an international standard; calling for repairs
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
Maintain a safe, clean, positive work environment always
Assist in all manufacturing operations as needed
SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS:
Must be detail-oriented
Understanding of production and plant processes
Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Ability to work in a team
Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or walk for long periods of time
Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary)
Demonstrate accuracy in analyzing information, research result reporting, and documentation
Exhibit an ability to read and utilize precision measurement equipment
Show continual improvement by participating in educational opportunities, including both personal and professional development
