What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development- Lease Sales position at Midwest Peterbilt Group?
The Business Development-Lease Sales role will be responsible for selling full maintenance leases of commercial equipment within an assigned market area. The energetic candidate will train under the mentorship of the Lease & Rental Manager, and other dealership personnel to master sales functions.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Complete Z Factor truck knowledge course within 2 months.
Attend all MPG, Peterbilt, and third-party training classes as assigned.
Study truck and equipment specifications to improve knowledge of product performance and application.
Gather market data and conduct research.
Develop market plan and account plan for area/accounts that will fall under the candidate's responsibility going forward.
Develop and maintain customer relationships.
Develop customer presentations.
Collaborate with fellow employees and suppliers.
Follow up on all details pertaining to Lease and transaction paperwork.
Secure customer commitments.
Work with Lease & Rental Manager to develop promotional ideas for marketing.
Attend industry events/open houses/golf outings.
Maintain professional appearance.
Check in new equipment that may arrive.
Assist Lease and Rental Manager.
Backup of Rental Desk.
Take part in all rental blitzes.
Other tasks as assigned.
Daily Tasks
- Lost Order Report
- Enter all input into CRM system
- Phone Calls (25 phone calls daily)
- Visits to customers and prospects of leasing full maintenance equipment- 4 per day
Weekly Tasks
- Service, Lease, Rental Meetings
- Lease Prospects Review with Manager
Monthly Tasks
- Lease Prospects Review with Manager
- Rental Prospect Blitzes, Rental Call Blitzes
Quarterly Tasks
- Recommendations to Manager on rental inventory

Education
High School Diploma
Computer Skills
Moderate to intermediate computer skills with fundamental computer operations, spreadsheets, word processing, database, e-mail, and CRM software
Language Skills
The ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, legal documents, and government regulations
The ability to write reports, and business correspondence
The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, common inquiries, or complaints, from customers, and the public
Mathematical Skills
The ability of performing basic math as well as calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, statistics, area, circumference, and volume, The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra

The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting, and possessing an understanding of the appropriate time to speak.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid CDL driver's license or be able to attain a CDL driver's license within six months of hire date and meet insurability requirements with the Company's insurance company.
Travel
Three days per week should be allotted for contacting new and established customers to follow up on appointments that were previously scheduled.
