Job Summary
A highly skilled Service Technician responsible for installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining patient lift systems for facilities, long‑term care centers, and private residences. Ensures all equipment operates safely, reliably, and in compliance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards. Provides exceptional customer service, technical troubleshooting, and on‑site support while maintaining accurate service documentation and promoting a safe environment for patients, caregivers, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Installation & Setup
- Install ceiling lifts, wheelchair lifts, stairlifts, and other patient mobility equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on patient lifts.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using tools, testing equipment, and technical manuals.
- Complete repairs efficiently while ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Replace worn or defective parts and verify proper function after service.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA, VA, and healthcare facility safety protocols when working in patient‑care environments.
- Ensure all equipment meets regulatory and manufacturer safety requirements.
- Document hazards, report unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective actions.
Customer Service & Support
- Provide professional, courteous on‑site service to healthcare staff, patients, and families.
- Explain repair findings, maintenance needs, and safe operation practices in clear, simple terms.
- Respond to service calls promptly and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate service logs, repair notes, parts usage, and inspection records.
- Complete work orders, warranty forms, and maintenance reports in a timely manner.
- Track inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
Technical & Operational Skills
- Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lift‑testing devices.
- Read and interpret schematics and installation drawings.
- Safely lift, move, and transport heavy equipment as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with patient lifts, durable medical equipment (DME), or mechanical/electrical repair.
- Knowledge of healthcare safety standards and infection‑control practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in the field.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Configure, test, and calibrate equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.
- Train end users—nurses, caregivers, and facility staff—on correct equipment use and safety procedures.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
