What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retiree Welfare Plan Eligibility Specialist position at Midwest Operating Engineers?
Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for maintaining and updated Retiree Welfare Plan eligibility and changes, including the use of the Retiree Medical Savings Plan.
Essential Functions
· Self-payment entry and verification of benefit letters
· Monthly identification, set up and correspondence for retired participants depleting their Active Credit Bank and commencing Retiree Welfare Plan (RWP) coverage
· Monthly review and correspondence to retired participants depleting their Retiree Medical Savings Plan account and transferring to full deduction from Pension
· Monthly identification, system updates and correspondence for Medicare status changes
· Review of Municipality applications, eligibility, and commencement of RWP coverage
· Update and track surviving spouse eligibility timely
· Update termination and newly eligible coverage requests
· Coordinate and request transfer of money between Funds, when applicable
· Annual projects for coupon payment books and changes in retiree rates
· Respond to written inquiries from both members and internal departments regarding general eligibility inquires
· The candidate must be able to understand the Retiree Welfare Plan, Retiree Medical Savings Plan and a basic knowledge of the Pension Plan
· Available to work Saturday overtime when needed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· High School diploma or equivalent
· 2-4 years of prior clerical experience
Specialized skills/technical knowledge
· Mathematical background preferred
· Possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality
· The ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
· Proficient in relevant computer applications such as ISSI, Salesforce, MS Office
· Accurate keyboard skills and proven ability to enter data timely
· Demonstrate passion for excellence with respect to treating and caring for customers
· Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
· Performs other duties as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.85 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
