Billing Customer Service Specialist

We are a multi-specialty private practice looking for a part-time Billing Customer Service Specialist. The qualified candidate must have excellent customer service skills; previous experience in the healthcare field is preferred but not required. This is a part-time, fully remote position; however, in-office training is required for the first several weeks, with occasional in-office attendance thereafter. Candidates must be local to be considered.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Assist in overall customer service, primarily phone calls
• Collect patient payments
• Maintain organized records of all activities and updates
• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage
• Responsible for timely and accurate completion of assigned duties
• Review and identify errors and report them to department manager
• Assist with various billing duties as the situation demands
• Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulation

Job Requirements:

• At least three years of customer service experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone etiquette and strong grammar and spelling
• Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
• Work well in collaborative environment
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Capable of receiving guidance/direction from peers
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, Access)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of insurance billing processes
• Experience with Dermatology and/or Otolaryngology
• Experience with EMA and/or Modernizing Medicine PM software

While this is a part-time position, it will be Monday through Friday.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
