What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician — Commercial Laundry Equipment position at Midwest Laundries Inc.?
Midwest Laundries installs and services commercial laundry equipment across Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. We are the highest-rated laundry equipment company in Chicago. We run a 20-vehicle fleet and we are growing.
We need a technician who can efficiently diagnose and repair commercial washers and dryers. Brands we sell and service are Speed Queen, Dexter, Fagor, ADC, and Yamamoto. You will service equipment at laundromats, hotels, nursing homes, veterinary hospitals, athletic facilities, salons, and more. Our clients cannot operate without working laundry. When you fix a machine, their business runs.
Schedule and Logistics
- Monday through Friday day shift. 8AM start time. 40-50 hours per week. Overtime eligible. No on-call.
- 3 to 6 stops per day. We expect you to maintain a low percentage of calls that require follow-up visits. That means knowing your work orders and being prepared with the correct parts for different scenarios.
- We provide a company vehicle with inventory, company phone, uniform, and Milwaukee tools. A take-home vehicle is available for highly qualified candidates.
- Paid factory training and certifications available from Speed Queen, Dexter, and Fagor
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair commercial washers and dryers in the field
- Complete accurate digital service reports at the time of service
- Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams such as other members of the Service Department and Parts Department
- Keep your vehicle stocked, clean, organized, and safe
What We Need
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. You can read a wiring diagram, and work confidently with a multimeter.
- 3 years in commercial laundry, appliance repair, HVAC, or industrial maintenance. Commercial laundry experience pays at the top of the range. If you have the electrical fundamentals from another trade, we will train you on the equipment
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record. We run a motor vehicle record prior to your start date.
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to handle a physical workload and work in tight spaces
- Ability to use mobile apps to review work orders, routing, and create service reports
Pay and Benefits
- $60k - $90k based on experience. To receive the upper end of this range, you would have demonstrated experience and expertise diagnosing and repairing commercial washers and dryers. You are an expert in your field. You've done this before.
