Midwest Floor Restore – Floor Restoration Technician

Midwest Floor Restore is seeking an experienced Floor Restoration Technician with a strong background in terrazzo and concrete floor restoration. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience in grinding, honing, polishing, and operating weighted swing machines and large planetary grinders.

Responsibilities

• Restore terrazzo and concrete floors using grinding, honing, polishing, densifying, and sealing techniques
• Operate weighted swing machines and large planetary grinders safely and efficiently
• Select proper diamonds, tooling, and steps based on floor conditions
• Maintain consistent scratch patterns and high-quality finish results
• Repair chips, cracks, and surface imperfections
• Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
• Work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends when needed
• Travel for out-of-town projects (company covers travel expenses)

Qualifications

• Experience as a Terrazzo Floor Tech or Concrete Floor Tech
• Strong knowledge of grinding, honing, and polishing systems
• Proficiency with weighted swing machines and large planetary grinders
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor
• Reliable, detail‑oriented, and professional
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as required

• Conduct floor scrubbing, buffing, waxing, refinishing, and polishing to restore floors to their optimal appearance.
• Manage heavy lifting tasks involving cleaning supplies, equipment, or furniture safely using proper manual handling techniques.
• Execute carpet cleaning procedures utilizing appropriate tools and chemicals for stain removal and deep cleaning.
• Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities, chemical usage, and equipment maintenance for accountability and safety compliance.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing client needs promptly and professionally during cleaning operations.
• Follow environmental services best practices by minimizing chemical waste and promoting eco-friendly cleaning methods.

Experience

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or institutional settings is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in floor care techniques including scrubbing, buffing, waxing, and refinishing.
• Experience handling floor cleaning chemicals safely while adhering to safety protocols.
• Familiarity with various cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, carpet extractors, and scrubbers.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting with proper technique to prevent injury.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for maintaining cleanliness standards consistently.
• Customer service experience is a plus—ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members alike.
