Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator I to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with commercial construction experience, strong project coordination skills, and proven ability to perform digital take-offs. Training on fence-specific knowledge will be provided, but candidates should already have experience reading plans, performing take-offs, and developing estimates in a construction setting.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Take-Offs
- Perform digital take-offs in Bluebeam to calculate materials, labor, and equipment for fencing, guardrail, and specialty projects.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine scope and bid requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Track and manage bid opportunities, following up with clients and vendors.
Project Support & Coordination
- Assist with project setup, scheduling, and internal handoff.
- Conduct field take-offs, site measurements, and condition documentation as needed.
- Work with suppliers to confirm material pricing and availability.
- Respond to inbound calls, online leads, and customer inquiries in a timely manner.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Communicate with clients to clarify project details, answer questions, and discuss estimates.
- Support senior estimators and project managers with data entry, reporting, and coordination.
- Attend project meetings and assist in cross-department communication.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, project management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu is required, with hands-on experience performing digital take-offs.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Basic understanding of construction principles and terminology.
- Experience with Textura / Procore is a plus but not required.
- Must reside within a 1-hour commute of Chicago.
