Maintenance Technician

Midwest Expansion
Kimberly, WI Full Time
POSTED ON 4/13/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/8/2026

Overview

Midwest Expansion is looking for an unstoppable Maintenance Technician to join its growing team!

Technical Requirements: Maintenance savvy is cool but we care little about specific education and experience. Instead, we value a person’s attitude, dependability and mental toughness. We believe that if a person is a good fit for our company based on their character, values and proficiency, we can teach them our business and the skills they need to be successful with us.

Physical Requirements: Not surprisingly, this position can be physically demanding. Assignments often require technicians to bend, squat, and climb, access tight spaces, and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. It’s common for teammates in this position to acquire 10,000 steps per day and frequently go up and down ladders. Applicants must be able to read, write and speak English and selected candidates will undergo a pre-employment physical to assess, at minimum, a candidate’s physical fitness, visual acuity, and hearing ability.

This role may occasionally require work outside these hours, but the typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-4. Call is currently voluntary.

Duties

Although maintenance team members typically focus on one of the below core competencies, this dynamic position can include all of the following responsibilities:

1. Make-Ready

  • Drive the final weeks of construction to meet opening deadlines.
  • Inspect construction quality and report incomplete or subpar work.
  • Test appliances, fixtures and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to correct construction deficiencies.
  • Complete minor repairs, finish work and cleaning to prepare for new residents.

2. Resident Services

  • Work independently to prioritize, prepare for and complete repairs to common areas, units, and grounds.
  • Keep thorough records of completed and ongoing service issues.
  • Interact with residents in a kind, professional manner.

3. Turnover

  • Work quickly to return units to like-new condition.
  • Service appliances, fixtures and systems as required.
  • If needed, repair/replace finishes.
  • Tackle challenges as they arise and involve the help of coworkers and
  • third-party vendors as needed to complete assigned tasks.

4. Special Projects

  • Identify and research problems to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Plan and execute special projects as assigned.
  • Gather and order, tools, equipment and materials needed to complete projects.
  • Take ownership to see projects through completion and report back to management.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Non-Negotiables

  • You are an extraordinary troubleshooter. Solutions are rarely obvious, require critical thinking, and demand an unfailing commitment to excellence. When a problem arises, you stick with it until it’s resolved and follow-up when required.
  • You are resourceful. The perfect storm of exact materials, ideal tools, and ample time never happens. Setbacks and limited resources are often part of the job. In the face of adversity, you get the job done anyway.
  • You are resilient. Others describe you as positive, organized and adaptive. You believe it’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters. You work well under pressure and are fueled, not overwhelmed, by the challenge of prioritizing work and pivoting with changing conditions.
  • You are accountable. Your eagerness to take action and attention to detail impress the people around you. You maintain adequate supplies, an organized workspace and a professional appearance. When assigned tasks you complete them well and without delay. No need for others to pester you with follow-up because it’s already done.
  • You are an exceptional teammate. You pull your weight, are quick to lend a hand and bring energy to the room when you walk in. You assume the best of others and provide feedback gracefully. You ask questions rather than letting things go undiscussed and never utter the words “that’s not my job.”
  • You are proficient with technology. The use of technology is unavoidable in our industry. More importantly, we utilize it to keep organized, smoothly run operations and measure our performance. You don’t have to be an expert, but you must embrace the use of smart devices and willingly explore new platforms as we deploy them.
  • You are proud of what you do. Personal pride is a source of self-confidence, fulfillment and motivation. In this way, taking pride in your work, our company and the communities we serve means you are compassionate, quick to respond and don’t cut corners.
