About the Role
We’re looking for an IT Information Technology Computer Bench Repair / Help Desk Support Technician to join our MSP team in a growth-oriented role. You’ll primarily work at our bench repairing PCs and hardware, support users remotely via helpdesk, and occasionally assist on field projects.
This position is designed as a development role – ideal for someone early in their IT career who wants hands-on experience, mentorship, and a clear path to advance into higher-level technician positions within our managed services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Bench Repairs & Hardware Support (Primary Focus – ~60%)
- Diagnose, service, repair, upgrade, replace, and support hardware and software for PC and Mac systems
- Perform strong hardware testing and component-level troubleshooting (hard drives, RAM, power supplies, screens, keyboards, etc.)
- Image and configure PCs using standard builds (Windows 10/11, macOS, drivers, office software, security tools)
- Perform basic data backup and migration tasks
- Document work performed in tickets and maintain a clean, organized bench workspace
Remote Helpdesk & Software Administration (~30%)
- Respond to client helpdesk tickets via phone, email, and remote support tools
- Troubleshoot common issues: password resets, email problems, Office 365/Google Workspace, printer connectivity, slow performance, etc.
- Apply software administration skills to configure, update, and maintain client systems
- Follow cyber-security best practices, including malware prevention and remediation
- Escalate complex issues to senior technicians with clear notes on what was attempted
- Provide friendly, professional support to non-technical users
Field Project Assistance (~10%)
- Occasionally travel to client sites with senior techs for installations, upgrades, or projects
- Assist with workstation rollouts, printer installs, network cabling, and equipment moves
- Represent the company professionally on-site (punctual, neat appearance, clear communication)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong hardware testing and software administration knowledge and skills
- Familiarity with cyber-security best practices and malware prevention/remediation
- Ability to follow written procedures and documentation
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
- Good communication skills – able to explain technical issues in plain language
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (for occasional field work)
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A Certification preferred
- 1–2 years of experience in PC/Mac repair, helpdesk, or IT support
- Familiarity with remote support tools (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk, ConnectWise Control)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace administration
- Interest in networking basics (IP addresses, switches, Wi-Fi troubleshooting)
