Midwest Co-Pack LLC is a family-owned company located right here in Winona. We manufacture sweet gummy candy on state-of-the-art machinery and is growing rapidly.
We are seeking a Floater in our Candy Making Department
Starting pay is $18.00
· Shift Hours ~ Monday – Friday 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
*** Job training will occur on 1st shift from 6:00 am – 2:00 pm
What you will be doing:
The Floater position supports multiple production roles within the Making and Operations departments. This position is trained to perform the essential functions of Mogul Operator, Mixer, and Catcher, with secondary support responsibilities for the Cook position. The Floater ensures continuous production by filling in where needed due to production demands, absences, breaks, vacations, or operational requirements.
This position requires flexibility, strong attention to detail, and the ability to learn and operate multiple types of production equipment while maintaining all food safety, quality, and safety standards.
Job Details:
- Operate production equipment associated with Mogul, Mixing, and Catch Room processes.
- Catch product on trays, monitor product flow, and ensure proper product handling.
- Assist with mixing ingredients and preparing pre-mixes according to established formulas and production requirements.
- Monitor polish and sanding equipment and verify process documentation in the catch room.
- Assist with operating and monitoring mogul machines and associated equipment.
- Support kitchen and cooking operations as needed, including ingredient staging and assisting cooks with batch preparation.
- Position trays and materials to support product molding, drying, and packaging processes.
- Record production data including processing steps, ingredient usage, temperatures, and batch documentation.
- Monitor equipment performance and report malfunctions to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
- Perform quality checks to ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP requirements, and all food safety programs.
- Maintain proper documentation and complete production paperwork accurately.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of equipment and production areas.
- Operate tow motors or manual material handling equipment to move materials or finished products when trained and authorized.
- Assist with training new or existing employees when requested.
- Cover vacations, breaks, overtime shifts, or production gaps across departments assigned.
- Follow all plant operating procedures and safety requirements.
- Assist other departments and positions as operational needs require.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
To perform successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

16. Maintain confidentiality of operations, records and documents.
17. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
18. Ability to understand and/or read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written or given orally in English.
19. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Education / Training / Certification \ License Required:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent experience

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works around food production equipment and moving mechanical parts and may occasionally work near cutting tools. The position is performed in a manufacturing environment where wet or humid conditions may be present due to routine cleaning and sanitation activities. Employees may have limited exposure to standard cleaning and sanitation chemicals used in food production. This role may require climbing ladders or stairs and working in areas where noise levels are moderate to high. Temperature conditions in certain production areas may be warm due to equipment operation and the manufacturing process.
