Midwest Aero Support was founded in Rockford, Illinois, in 1990 by Brent Johnson, a 16-year aerospace veteran who saw a critical need for quick, high-quality, and affordable repairs for regional airlines.
In 2007, MAS relocated to its current 45,500-square-foot facility in Machesney Park, Illinois—more than triple the size of the original location—providing the foundation for expanded services and future growth.

This position is on-site at the Machesney Park, IL manufacturing site with travel as needed to customers and sites.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
We are seeking a New Business Development Manager to architect and implement their first structured growth and customer engagement strategy. This role is ideal for someone who is strategic, ethical, and self-starting, ready to create the systems, processes, and relationships that will support their continued expansion including both the commercial construction as well as the service division. This role will report directly to the President and be part of the executive leadership team. You will develop new partnerships, design business development processes, and champion repeatable service revenue opportunities.
The New Business Development Manager will also focus on the following areas:
Strategy & Infrastructure
- Create, implement, and oversee a full-cycle business development strategy to include marketing and trade show participation.
- Analyze current and potential partners and opportunities to ensure Midwest Aero Support is working with partners that align with their culture and understand their value proposition.
- Develop and establish KPIs, metrics, and reporting frameworks in alignment with the leadership team.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor offerings.
- Provide insights to internal teams to guide product development and strategic planning.
Technical & Product Expertise
- Develop a deep understanding of aircraft performance, systems, maintenance requirements, and lifecycle economics.
- Present complex technical information in a clear, compelling way to both engineering and executive-level stakeholders.
- Collaborate with New Product Development teams to customize configurations, performance analyses, and technical proposals.
Relationship Development
- Strengthen relationships with preferred general contractors and identify new strategic partners (both contractors and direct clients).
- Conduct and lead prospecting efforts to deliver revenue goals, grow recurring service customers, stabilize demand volatility, and improve revenue forecasting.
- Identify new market opportunities and emerging customer needs.Support the development of sales strategies, pricing models, and competitive positioning.
- Prepare and deliver proposals, RFP responses, and commercial offers.
- Build long-term relationships with airlines, leasing companies, and aviation service providers.
- Conduct customer visits, technical briefings, and product demonstrations.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact during sales campaigns.
Execution & Collaboration
- Represent Midwest Aero Support in industry events and with potential partners.
- Work closely with internal service, manufacturing, engineering, marketing, finance, and program management teams to qualify and deliver on new opportunities. This includes the logistics from quoting through manufacturing and delivery.
- Quarterback responses to customers with Midwest Aero Support estimators, project manager, and the leadership team.
- Oversee marketing efforts aligned to business development goals.
- Support contract negotiations by providing technical justification and performance data.
- Ensure smooth handover from sales to delivery and customer support teams.
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
- 10 years in business development, ideally in military, aerospace or avionics manufacturing industry.
- Proven record of successfully managing and enhancing relationships in a manufacturing setting, with an emphasis on high-performance team culture and client satisfaction.
- Experience building systems and processes from the ground up including system selection, process design, and client targeting strategies.
- Proven ability to drive revenue growth and establish lasting client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of industry trends, RFP/procurement processes, and project lifecycles.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to create or provide quotes to the customer base.
- Experience and understanding of market pricing and competitive landscape.
- Experience in aviation, aerospace, or technical sales.
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems, performance, and operational economics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred
- Experience working with airlines, OEMs (e.g., Airbus, Boeing, Skywest, Envoy, Republic), or MRO organizations.
- Knowledge of certification requirements, maintenance programs, or fleet planning.
- Familiarity with aircraft performance tools or economic modeling.
