What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Archery Coach position at Midway University?
Midway University is actively seeking a part-time Assistant Archery Coach to join our program. Working closely with the Head Coach, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in recruiting talented student-athletes, providing skill instruction, offering academic support, and ensuring compliance. An additional emphasis for the position is recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes, and the administration of a competitive intercollegiate Archery program.
Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Adhere to University, to Mid-South Conference and USA Archery policies and procedures.
- Provide help administering the Archery program, including recruiting, budgeting, travel and tournament preparations.
- Assist the coaching staff and administration to ensure that all team members have completed all required eligibility forms prior to participating.
- Coordinate and evaluate as-needed coaching/training sessions, ensuring that effective principles, techniques, strategies, and methods to achieve sport proficiency is happening; observe student-athletes during practice to determine opportunities for growth.
- Maintain confidentiality with office and team related issues.
- Assist in the setting up and taking down of the archery ranges.
- Assist in the maintaining and repair of archery equipment.
- Assist in driving vans to and from tournaments.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior coaching experience at the USA Archery Junior Olympic or high school level is highly desirable. The ability to coach and recruit skilled student-athletes is preferred. This position will require a background and driving record check. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
