What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Counter Sales position at MIDWAY GROUP?
Position Information:
The Parts Counter Sales Person’s main responsibility is to service customers. Requires parts knowledge and the use of parts catalogs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent all Midway Companies professionally to customers, vendors and other outsiders.
- Work harmoniously with co-workers and supervisor and adhere to company policies.
- Sell parts over the counter to retail and wholesale customers. Determine correct parts numbers
- Help maintain parts stock in an orderly fashion
- Promote additional parts sales by suggesting related items, seasonal items and/or parts specialties.
- Clean, revise, and update parts displays as directed.
- Must be able to work safely in a parts department environment, using care not to create hazards for fellow workers or yourself.
- Advise Assistant Parts Manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition.
- Keep current on new products and product updates.
- Participate in all training programs that are made available.
- Ensure notification of customers of special orders received and make service appointments when possible.
- Assist in the preparation of scheduled physical inventories.
- Perform such other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Minimum of one year sales experience in an automotive Parts Department. Professional personal appearance. Ability to work well with people. Ability to handle several tasks at one time. Ability to lift, climb ladders, carry and retrieve truck parts and heavy components. Will be required to wear dealership-provided uniform. Some computer background and typing skills required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a physically demanding position. Will be required to move throughout the two-floor parts area all day, reaching and climbing to obtain parts from inventory. Will stand six to eight hours during a shift at the customer counter. When delivering parts to the Service Department and Body Shop, will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, point and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
