Physical Therapy Assistant

Position Summary:

The Physical Therapy Assistant will assist with patient care and help patients with their healing process and ability to return to work. You will work closely and under the direction of the Physical Therapist, treating patient with injury recovery and other conditions that limit their ability to perform activities.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assists with administering patient tests, treatments, and procedures as directed by the Physical Therapist.

· Carries out a program of corrective exercise and treatment for assigned patients, as directed by a Physical Therapist.

· Uses therapeutic procedures, exercise, equipment, or machinery to restore movement, strength, and ADL’s. Instructing patients on segments of therapy programs, including proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, and DME.

· Maintains a busy schedule focused mainly on orthopedic and possible concussion treatment with an interdisciplinary team. Has a passion for patient care.

· Ability to progress patients independently- with a focus on manual therapy and therapeutic exercise progression skills. Willingness to progress your skill set through additional training and mentoring.

· Maintains compliance with D.O.W.C., HIPPA regulations, and other quality initiatives.

· Assists in maintaining cleanliness and order in the treatment spaces.

· Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards/procedures, and complying with legal regulations.

· Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

· Varied activities including sitting, walking, squatting, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching.

· Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds and to lift 100 pounds.

Expected hours per week: 40

Education/License:

· Associates Degree

· Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant Required

Certification:

· CPR required

Skills:

· Care Plans

· Manual Therapy Skills

· Communication- oral and written

· Work Comp experience and/or concussion therapy preferred

· Ability to work as part of a team

· Patient and client oriented
