What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kidtown Director - East Nashville position at Midtown Fellowship?
Job Summary:
Our children’s ministry is experiencing incredible growth, and is at the cutting edge of our mission in our community. The Kidtown Director will welcome, shepherd, disciple, and equip the children and families of Midtown East to receive the love of Jesus and follow him together in all of life.
Functions & Responsibilities:
Lead from our Vision and Calling
- Disciple families according to Midtown vision of “Gospel transformation through multiple congregations,” and in line with the calling of Midtown East to be “a thriving community of worship and witness in and for East Nashville”
- Align work with and promote Kidtown calling of “creating an intentional, gospel centered space for kids to belong, believe and become participating members of God’s family”
Build Relationships
- Represent Kidtown in our church community
- Network with new and existing families on Sunday mornings and during the week
- Create outreach events for families in the community (i.e. Vacation Bible School, School Options Panel)
Shepherd through Kidtown Leadership
- Build and execute unified Kidtown discipleship pathway
- Oversee Sunday morning Kidtown operations
- Recruit, train, and manage Kidtown volunteers and Coordinators
- Coordinate lessons, volunteer, and supplies for full range of Kidtown classes
- Plan for and strategically steward growth
- Maintain and develop policies and procedures for safety and smooth functioning

Family Shepherding and Discipleship
- Develop additional discipleship opportunities (i.e. Communicants Class)
- Care for families through the milestones of birth, baptism, communion, and graduation (i.e. Baptism gift)
- Maintain and promote partnership with Midtown Youth, building strong bridges for students and families to these opportunities
- Plan and execute keystone, church-wide events that serve the entire church, from children through adults (i.e. Easter Egg Hunt and Ice Cream Olympics)
General Ministry Leadership
- Assist East Nashville staff as needed with other ministry leadership needs
Work Management
- Set and maintain consistent work schedule and time management based on job responsibilities and congregational ministry plans
- Collaborate with other Kidtown Directors through the co-op to learn best practices and problem solve
Personal Spiritual Growth and Development
- Abide in Jesus to bear the fruit of Jesus
Education, Skills, and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Relational warmth and a shepherd’s heart
- Experience discipling families and children to live as a “family on mission”
- Winsome and engaging approach to those familiar and unfamiliar
- A flexible approach to solving problems and must approach challenges with a “we’ll figure it out” mindset
- An active and committed Christian faith with beliefs and lifestyle consistent with the doctrine of the PCA
