What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasound Supervisor position at Midstate Radiology Associates?
Join Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) as a Full Time, Ultrasound Supervisor at our multiple outpatient offices (successful candidate will be willing to travel to all MRA sites). Time allocation for this position will be divided between administrative (4 days) and clinical (1 day) tasks.
Position Schedule: Mon - Fri, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (subject to change based on operational need).
Compensation: MRA offers competitive compensation based on qualifications and experience.
Job Summary:
Manages a specific modality to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective product or service is delivered by the modality in support of the department's strategic plan, and the function’s goals and objectives. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible to ensure accreditation is obtained for all equipment.
- Successfully schedule staff for modality to include hospital and office staff.
- Provide smooth implementation of any new equipment.
- To act as liaison between Radiologists and technologists.
- To develop protocols for new procedure.
- To successfully implement new protocols.
- Facilitation of daily workflow within modality.
- To troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- To act as intermediary between staff and management.
- Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students by maintaining and understanding of policies, procedures, and the clinical competency process (in order to evaluate student growth and competence in performing radiographic procedures).

Qualifications Guidelines:
Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate AMA approved sonography program.
- Registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers(ARDMS)
- CT state license.
- CPR certification.
- Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.
- Individual exceptions may apply only under the discretion of the Medical and Administrative Director
Desirable:
- At least three year’s experience in specified modality.
- Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field.
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge applicable to ultrasound technology with specific references to anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to ultrasound technology.
- Patient care standards and requirements.
- Quality assurance principles and practices.
- Customer service principles and practices.
- OSHA principles and practices.
- TJC standards of practice.
Skills/Abilities:
- Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
- Ensure that work is scheduled, organized and completed in accordance with required workloads.
- Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
- Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
- Operate ultrasound equipment.
- Venipuncture certificate (where applicable).
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
- Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
- Ensure that modality is ACR accredited
- Development and implementation of protocols
- Facilitation of daily work flow
Special Conditions:
May be required to rotate on night, weekend and/or holiday call schedule.
Must be willing to travel to all Midstate Radiology Associates Sites.
OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
May involve physical lifting and/or walking.
