The compensation for this position is: $35.21 - $52.02The listed compensation range covers the full scope for this position. Actual starting pay is set based on relevant qualifications, related experience, and internal pay equity within the organization. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 will be offered to well-qualified candidates.Job Summary: Responsible for providing, promoting and maintaining quality patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures through education, standards of practice, professional growth and collaboration with other multidisciplinary health care providers. This is accomplished by a complete and thorough process of assessing, diagnosing, planning, coordination, teaching, counseling, and facilitating the care of the patients in Radiology Services.Key Accountabilities:Specific duties fall into four categories. They are clinical, education, management, and collaboration.CLINICALPrioritizes patient needs and functions as patient advocateAssesses the biological, psychological, sociological and cultural needs of the needs of the patient and family.Assesses and monitors patient condition including vital sign monitoring, recognition of EKG changes, and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.Administers contrast materialRecognizes, documents, and assists in the treatments that require professional nursing skillsAdministers conscious sedation and monitors patients as appropriate.Recognizes, documents, and assists in the treatment of contrast reactionsIntervenes in emergency situationsAssists radiologists with special procedures and treatments that require professional nursing skillsAssesses need for and administers other medication as appropriateProvides continuity of care for the critically ill patientDemonstrates skill in using special equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps, pacemakers, O2 equipment, ventilators, etc.Documents patient status and nursing interventionsDemonstrates ability to prioritize nursing responsibilities within the departmentEDUCATIONProvides health teaching and procedural information to patients and familiesProvides staff education on CPR, patient care, safety, infection control, etc.In-services other health care professionals regarding radiology nurses’ role, continuity of patient care, and topics related to radiologyAssists with orientation of nurses, physicians, technologists, and studentsEvaluates, prepares, and distributes written patient education materialsIndividual exceptions may apply only under the discretion of the Medical and Administrative DirectorMANAGEMENTActs as a resource person for nursing, medical, and radiology staffAssists with quality improvement and risk management programsParticipates in the development and evaluation of policies and procedure in radiologyParticipates in the formulation of written standards of care, practice, and governancePractices cost containmentMaintains emergency equipmentMonitors medications including narcoticsParticipates in hospital, nursing, and radiology committeesCOLLABORATIONActs as liaison between radiology and nursing unitsUtilizes services available in the hospital to continue to remain current in practiceInteracts with other health care professional to maintain continuity of quality patient careThe preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
