What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional Remote Support position at Midstate Arc?
Overview
Supporting individuals in independent living situations, remote support allows a degree of independence. This position is utilizing technology to alert direct support professionals when support is needed.
Duties
- Receive and respond to alerts as received from assistive technologies in which to communicate to staff for action. ·
- Remain in geographic locations to which WIFI and technology does not interfere with alerts and communication.·
- Maintain documentation of supports provided to individuals. ·
- Problem solve situations occurring with individuals.
- Staff would monitor all technology for each apartment and respond accordingly. Such as checking on the person, calling 911 if needed.
- Complete all required notes in electronic records.
- Scanning documents/paperwork into individual files within electronic records.
- Audit/review daily notes in electronic records for accuracy and completion. Provide the manager with a list of any data that is noted to be missing or concerns with documentation
- Assist with the morning routines of each person if needed. Such as cooking, showering, overseeing meds are taken, ensuring properly dressed and morning hygiene (tooth brushing, shaving, hair brushed etc.) has been completed
- See office area/apartment (including bathroom) is clean prior to leaving.
- Send weekly updates to manager of any issues/concerns
- Update appointment sheets when changes in medications
- Ensure appointment sheets are filled out for all scheduled appointments.
- Monthly appointment audit-review and document any appointments needed and/or labs and results
- Complete any delegated tasks from the manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license, proof of registration, insurable driving record, and personal vehicle throughout the duration of employment
- Basic fluency in oral and written English
- Computer/email skills required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to analyze situations develop creative programs, act quickly and remain calm in a crisis, meet frequent deadlines, handle stressful situations without loss of efficiency and/or composure.
- Ability to obtain and utilize CPR, First Aid, PMT, certifications within DDS guidelines and to remain in compliance throughout employment.
- 2 years’ experience in the field of Human Services.
- Ability to engage in behavioral interventions and techniques as necessary
- Must have the ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others; flexibility with respect to hours of work and changing conditions; be of good moral character; have an interest in the welfare of the individuals; have training and/or interest in the field of developmental disabilities; have a willingness/ability to communicate with and relate to individuals, parents, guardians, fellow staff, representatives of community agencies, and agency management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
