Summary
Responsible for surveying, staking and designing electrical distribution lines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares drawings and specifications (staking) for electrical distribution lines.
- Prepares construction material lists.
- Performs cost estimates and prepares job orders using a design software program.
- Meets with and assists customers and developers providing accurate and timely information.
- Remains current on all National Electric Safety Code issues.
- Maintains familiarity with the feeds of all transmission and distribution lines and the operation of all substations and switching stations.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years experience in surveying or closely related work.
- Preferred: Previous in Auto-CAD, GIS, construction, and/or electric utility operations.
An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certs & Misc Requirements
Valid Texas Class C drivers license with a good driving record as measured by Mid-South Synergy's criteria.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic surveying principles, practices and methods.
- Knowledge of drafting techniques.
- Knowledge in geometry, trigonometry, algebra and other mathematical calculations used in surveying, engineering and drafting.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and the use of computers and computer software applications.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as system maps, operating and maintenance instructions, safety rules and procedural manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to organize workload, establish priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team as needed.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in extremely stressful situations.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise and complete reports, correspondence and other written materials.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a high-energy, fast paced environment and adapt to constantly changing priorities and situations.
