What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Technician position at MidSouth Electric Coop?
As a Water Technician, you will be responsible for the overall effectiveness and quality of our water system on a daily basis. This includes inspecting well sites for confirmation of proper function, general inspections such as security, vandalism, chlorination rates, motor operations, foundations, tanks, buildings, and SCADA. You will also be responsible for installing water service taps, road bores, and repairing water leaks. Our Water Technician role requires significant customer service skills as you will be interacting with our members as well as outside customers.
What You Will Bring to the Table:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 2 years of working within the Water Industry preferred
- Class C Texas Driver's License required, Class A Texas Commercial Driver's License preferred: A valid Class C Texas Drivers's License along with a good driving record as measured by MSEC's criteria is a requirement for employment. If you currently do not hold a Class A Commercial Driver's Permit or License, you must obtain your Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of employment.
- Must have or obtain the following licenses within 6 months of employment: Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing Certification as required by OSHA; Class C Ground Water License; Customer Service Inspection License; Backflow Prevention License.
- Communication Skills: You must possess strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional working relationships with peers and members.
- Analytical Skills: You must have the ability to understand road maps, system maps, and construction drawings. You must also demonstrate the ability to locate underground water lines either electronically or manually.
- Customer Service Skills: When required, you will be meeting with members in regards to our water services, and are expected to represent Mid-South Synergy in the most professional and courteous way possible.
- Flexibility Skills: You must be able to work in a fast-paced and high-energy environment with changing demands and priorities. You must also be able to exercise independent judgement when assisting on trouble calls.
- Technical Skills: You must have good knowledge of the principles, tools, and equipment used in analog and digital meter installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and reading meters.
