Qualifications
Position Summary:
Provide purchasing and expediting support for industrial machinery and materials for domestic and international projects. Duties frequently require forceful negotiating style to achieve results because purchasing and expediting are not just reporting; they require achieving results in the face of a variety of obstacles.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Review requisitions for completeness, issue inquiries to qualified vendors, and coordinate technical reviews
- Analyze vendor quotations for compliance with requisition requirements. Develop relationships with vendors to obtain favorable delivery, schedule, price, and commercial terms and conditions
- Place purchase orders for technical items and large volume commodity items in coordination with project schedules utilizing current ERP and MRP systems.
- Provide frequent, timely and results-oriented vendor expediting to verify and influence manufacturing schedules, shipping schedules or drawing/document submittal schedules.
- Utilize the ERP System as it relates to the Project Procurement Department's expediting functions (i.e. update all salient schedule milestones for material acquisition, manufacturing progress, shipping schedule/actual, etc.).
- Utilize the file sharing and MRP System in all aspects as they relate to the Project Procurement Department's expediting functions.
- Monthly maintenance of the Estimate to Complete (ETC) Spread Sheet for multiple projects that lists anticipated vendor billings and anticipated revenues from clients.
- Liaise with either/both Midrex Global Logistics and the clients' designated freight forwarders to effect shipments.
- Establish and keep current the individual Purchase Order files within the ERP System regarding expediting matters.
- Attend the weekly shipping meetings and utilize the information gained to update the ETC's per project.
- Establish lines of contact with Midrex site management to ensure that all field purchase orders are accurate.
- Inspect shipments for completeness and accuracy with Engineering support as needed.
Required:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to learn and take on new responsibility
- Organized with attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to build relationships with all levels of suppliers' staff and Company teammates
- Experience in an industrial work environment or internship
- Working knowledge of ISO related requirements
- Proficient with a typical ERP system
- Proficient with a typical MRP document control systems
- High school diploma, post-high school or Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Arts Degree preferred in Engineering or Business Administration
- 0% - 10% International and Domestic based on project demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to lift and package parts shipments of boxes up to 40 lbs (18kg).
- Ability to move around a project site, including climbing structures.
