What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Director position at Midnight Sunday?
Midnight Sunday tells stories for some of the world's most admired luxury hotels and hospitality brands. We are a small, fiercely specialist team with a global reach, and the standard we hold ourselves to is the same one our clients hold their properties to: exceptional, always.
We are looking for an Account Director in New York. Someone who is ready not just to manage accounts, but to elevate them.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Midnight Sunday operates as a globally distributed team, with leadership and client work spanning multiple time zones. The Account Director at Midnight Sunday owns the client-facing layer completely, serving as the consistent senior presence between executive leadership and day-to-day account management, holding every relationship to the highest standard, keeping the account team sharp and accountable, and ensuring leadership always has the clarity and insight they need to make good decisions.
This role sits within a close-knit leadership structure, working directly with the Founder/CEO, President/COO, and Chief Creative Officer. You will have direct access to leadership and are expected to translate agency vision and standards into every client relationship, deliverable, and team interaction.
This is a role for someone who wants real ownership, not a job description to fulfill. If you are someone who sees inefficiency as an opportunity and has the discipline to replace it with something better, that instinct will be valued here.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Client relationships and service excellence
- Own the senior client relationship across a portfolio of luxury hotel accounts, serving as the primary point of trust and strategic counsel
- Lead weekly and monthly sessions with clients and the internal team, consistently raising the quality of conversation and the ambition of the work
- Navigate client organizations of all types with confidence and bring a clear, considered point of view to every interaction
- Anticipate what clients need before they ask, and arrive with ideas rather than wait for direction
STRATEGY & CREATIVE DIRECTION
- Develop social media strategies that reflect a genuine understanding of luxury hospitality culture, platform behavior, and brand storytelling
- Bring new thinking to the agency, staying ahead of trends in culture, design, and digital behavior
- Partner with department and team leads across Creative, Influencer Relations, Digital, and Community Management to ensure strategic alignment and execution standards are met across every client touchpoint. Your role is to set the vision, hold the layer accountable, and step into higher-level conversations where your presence adds value.
- Play an active role in new business conversations, RFP responses, and agency positioning — showing up as a credible senior voice that clients and prospects trust immediately.
TEAM LEADERSHIP
- Serve as the primary point of escalation, problem-solving, and strategic guidance for the account management team. You are the resource they come to before leadership, and the filter through which account-level updates, challenges, and wins flow upward. The AMs should be better at their jobs because of your proximity to them.
- Act as the connective tissue between the account management layer and agency leadership — maintaining a pulse on every active account and ensuring leadership has what they need without being pulled into the day-to-day. You own that translation.
- Provide clear direction, regular feedback, and meaningful development support to a small and talented team of account managers
- Ensure the account team operates within established agency systems, workflows, and project management standards at all times. You are accountable for the layer — which means you are accountable for how it runs, not just what it delivers.
- Build a culture of accountability, craft, and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality within the client services team
- Play an active role in how we hire and build the team over time, helping Midnight Sunday attract people who belong here.
- Be available and collaborative across time zones, understanding that our clients and team operate across different hours.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who is genuinely hungry for doing things well and differently, visually attuned, and has a deep love for the world of luxury hospitality, regardless of where that passion was developed. If you have built your career inside an agency, a hotel group, a luxury brand, or somewhere else entirely, and you are ready to take real ownership of something, this is the conversation we are interested in having..
- Someone who genuinely loves hotels, not as a category but as a way of life. You notice the details. You have strong opinions about properties, brands, and experiences.
- Someone who leads from knowledge, not just authority. You stay close enough to every account to problem-solve in real time, develop your team's thinking, and represent the full portfolio to leadership with clarity and confidence.
- A natural orchestrator who knows how to align teams around a vision and hold them accountable to it, without doing their jobs for them.
- Collaborative by nature and comfortable operating within a defined leadership structure. You know how to own your lane completely — the client-facing layer is yours — while working in close alignment with a small, high-performing leadership team.
- Cultured, curious, and visually literate, with a point of view on what exceptional creative work looks and feels like.
- A natural communicator and relationship builder who earns trust quickly and holds it.
- Strategically sharp and commercially aware, with the ability to think beyond the brief.
- Comfortable speaking to digital performance and reporting data in a client context — you don't need to be the expert in the room, but you need to be able to hold the conversation confidently.
- Comfortable operating across a globally distributed team and multiple time zones, and flexible enough to make that work without being asked twice.
- Based in New York. In-person availability with clients and the local team is required. Relocation candidates will not be considered. Exact structure confirmed during the interview process.
- A genuine connection to the world of luxury travel, golf, and high-end leisure. You don't need a passport full of five-star stamps or a single digit handicap, but if you move in or are drawn to these worlds, you'll find the work resonates differently — and so will the clients.
COMPENSATION
$120,000 per year
- This role reports to the President/COO.
- Four weeks paid annual leave.
- Salary subject to review and adjustment at twelve months, in recognition of performance and commitment to the agency. Benefits package details provided during the interview process.
