Field Project Assistant / SWPPP Inspector
Midnight Sun Environmental, LLC, an Anchorage-based environmental consulting company, has an immediate opening for an entry level Environmental Project Assistant / SWPPP Inspector. The main responsibilities of this position would include conducting SWPPP inspections, documentation and reporting inspections, installing best management practices (BMPs), and assisting senior scientists with field projects. The ideal candidate will have an interest in working in an environmental or construction field. Must be based in Anchorage, Alaska.
Expectations:
- Assist in creating and filing project reports, including inspection reports, job diaries, photos, videos, and reports.
- Install BMPs at construction sites and conduct regular field inspections.
- Identify and define problems, effectively communicating them to supervisors.
- Possess strong English skills for composing correspondence, developing project documents, proofreading, and communicating with supervisors, clients, and staff.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and other relevant software.
- Develop environmental reports, including professional arc GIS maps
- Perform high-level technical editing and quality review of reports and plans
- Support team projects, marketing materials, and client communications
- Work efficiently under pressure and able to assist in multiple projects simultaneously.
- Able to work independently and on a team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or working towards a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, biology, construction management, etc.
- Familiarity with working on construction projects.
- Familiarity with GIS and the ability to produce figures and maps
- Work will include frequent short travel to Cordova, Juneau, or other remote communities in support of port and harbor or utility projects.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
