The Residential Services Clerk is responsible for caring for clients who are using our services and living in our dorms. The clerk supports clients to maintain and sustain their routine, including seeing their case manager, doing laundry, and getting to and from meals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees all Residential Services operations at Residential Services Desk.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive client environment.
  • Coordinate data collection that provides critical programmatic information on clients, services and program outcomes.
  • Ensure residential areas are conducive of a therapeutic environment by overseeing periodic surveys and inspections for safety and sanitary issues.
  • Coordinate with Program Department to ensure that all residents are aware of all program rules and requirements.
  • Coordination and assistance with other departments as needed.
  • Monitor facility to maintain safety of clients and space.
  • Assist clients with routines.
  • Support clients in following all shelter procedures.
  • Help clients work through conflict with others living in the shelter.
  • Keep shelter clean, restock supplies, and complete shelter laundry.
  • Communicate observations and interactions with clients to case manager and management through documentation in daily log.
  • Intervene in client crises under the direction of program management.
  • Treat clients in a culturally sensitive manner following the tenets of trauma informed care.
  • Participate in program, department and agency meetings and relevant trainings as required, as well as inter-agency groups that provide assistance and advocacy to homeless women.
  • Adhere to agency policy, procedures and professional code of ethics.
  • Complete all duties as assigned.
  • Reviews and processes all entry and departure activities of clients and residents.
  • Assists Program management in reporting, tracking of reports.
  • Keeps status of residents and clients up to date; reports all exit and entry data.
  • Regularly inspects dormitory areas and 3rd floor transitional housing/isolation rooms.
  • Monitors all dormitory activity; ensures that no weapons or contraband (including food which is not allowed in dormitories) enter dorms. Ensures that all dormitory bed areas are neat, clean and tidy.
  • Assists departments with Temp Staff household assignments.
     
Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 -2 Experience working with those experiencing homelessness or addiction, or in case management preferred.

  • Ability to effectively organize and execute assignments.
  • Engage with clients in a trauma-informed manner.
  • Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries.
  • Sensitivity to differences in culture, religion, sexual orientation, race, age, and physical and mental illness.
  • Ability to respond responsibly in emergency and crisis situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to effectively interact with participants, clients, co-workers, and volunteers with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and treat each individual with respect, dignity and compassion.
  • Proficiency in working on computers.
