This position has limited functional responsibility for individual Imaging Departments (Diagnostic Radiology, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT Scanning, and/or Cardiology). Responsibilities include but not limited to: Maintaining daily patient/employee schedules and workload within department; conducts operational problem solving processes to insure a uniform clinical outcome for department. Maintains appropriate staff schedule based on activity levels. Foster and promotes good communication between management, staff, physicians, internal/external departments as well as the community at large. Maintain high quality diagnostic skills/competency within their respective areas of responsibility. To serve as a resource person for staff. Varied clinical duties.Responsibilities
(50%)* Performs all technical duties/procedures in respective area. Prepares equipment for ordered exam; transports patients as needed, explains procedure to patient, performs exam; records exam. Starts I.V.�s as necessary, monitor patient during imaging procedures, reviews and documents appropriate patient information. Maintains working knowledge of imaging equipment and radiology information systems.
(25%)* Provides leadership and guidance to department. Maintains open interdepartmental communication to ensure quality customer care and service. Consults with Radiologists concerning procedural protocols and quality.
(25%)* Maintains patient and staff work schedules on a daily basis
ALL OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains employee time records and appropriate daily staff schedules. Assists department manager with department scheduling, interviewing and selection of replacement staff.
Delegates daily work duties to maintain smooth work flow.
Assists department manager with annual job performance reviews as well as routinely providing feedback to department manager on staff performance.
Training of current and new staff. Provides opportunities for staff education in:
New employee orientation and training in all areas of Imaging
Department/job specific education
Education for new services provided in Imaging
Clinical instructor for students. Monitors and reports progress of students to program coordinator, department manager, and student.
Perform patient exams, ensures proper documentation, update, verify and complete all patient demographic and clinical information in RIS, PACS, and EPIC (EMR).
Schedules equipment maintenance, downtime and maintenance work orders.
Orders and maintains department supplies in a cost effective manner.
Assist department manager with State of Michigan, ACR and The Joint Commission Surveys.
Participates in interdisciplinary committees.
Implements, reviews, and updates department policies and procedures
Recommends changes which will improve the quality of services offered.
Maintains effective quality management/improvement program to measure, assess and improve services of the department.
Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy at all times toward all employees, physicians, associated staff and MyMichigan Health customers and potential customers.
Provides excellent customer service.

ARRT - Reg Radiologic Technologist
Required Equivalent Experience -
BLS - Basic Life Support
Required Equivalent Experience - Within 1 month of hire or transfer
Required Education
Associates Degree
Comments: Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiology is required

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Three years of technical experience in a Health Care setting of their respective modality is required.
Must be in good standing by their professional accrediting body.
Organizational, Interpersonal relations and leadership skills are required.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level:Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
