Midlands Testing Services, Inc. and MSA Inc. are in a unique industry. We work directly with airlines and railroads to help keep their workforce alcohol and drug free in accordance with the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
We assist our clients in all aspects of managing this mandatory testing process for those working in safety sensitive positions. We are a growing privately held company located in Omaha, NE and we are looking for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals who enjoy being a part of a team.
Our office is located near Lakeside Hospital at 168th & Center Street and has a walking path to a lake directly behind our building. The building has been newly remodeled and has free drink and snack station for employees, and even extra wide parking stalls.
We are looking for Human Resources Assistant with experience, who can work directly with the HR Manager and the leadership team to meet the hiring and HR needs of the business.
Essential Functions
- Assisting HR with the process of recruitment, including vetting candidates, assisting with interviews and issuing employment contracts.
- Supporting internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department.
- Compiling and maintaining paper, digital and electronic employee records.
- Assisting with the communication and documentation of employee benefits.
- Supporting HR-related training programs, and meetings.
- Maintain physical and digital employee and subcontractor records, databases and personnel files.
- Overseeing HR events and meetings and coordinating management-employee communications.
- Assist in monitoring employee productivity, attendance and compliance with MTS policies.
- Perform onboarding of new employees.
- Continuously learn the latest HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency.
- Assisting with the recruitment on on-boarding of 1099 contractors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact professionalism and diplomacy
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of job posting websites such as really or ZipRecruiter.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel),
- Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively to complete tasks.
- Required to learn multiple programs such as Microsoft word, excel, outlook and our proprietary software.
- Able to transition quickly between multiple duties depending on the needs of the business.
- Ability to learn the Federal Regulations on Drug and Alcohol testing and have a good understanding of the different roles, responsibilities and job junctions of MTS/MSA employees.
Physical
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
