INTRODUCTION

Responsible for the oversight of Quality Assurance, Recreation and providing assistance to the Residential Program Director as needed. Will perform all duties necessary to meet state approved standards and will ensure the quality of our programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work a 40 hour, salaried, work week which may include weekend and evening shifts as approved by the Director of Residential Services;
  • On-call two weeks per month in cooperation with the Director of Residential Services;
  • Assume agency-wide on-call responsibilities when Director of Residential Services is on vacation or sick leave;
  • Must be reachable by management via cell phone when working;
  • Assist in maintaining a high-quality program in accordance with the mission of MAS;
  • Provide advocacy and support for the individuals and families MAS serves;
  • Assist in ensuring proper staffing ratios (1:3) at all times;
  • Observe behavioral and medical needs of the individuals and provide feedback to the Director of Residential Services;
  • Utilize Crisis Intervention Techniques as trained and appropriate;
  • Utilize behavior management strategies as needed;
  • Attend and participate in weekly manager meetings;
  • Serve as an effective liaison between staff and other MAS employees, as needed;
  • Attend conferences, seminars, meetings, and trainings relevant to the position as required;
  • Advocate for the individuals supported in MAS residences;
  • Responsible for assisting the Director of Residential Services to complete an annual review of all community residences operated by Midland;
  • Other duties as assigned by the MAS Director of Residential Services;

QUALITY ASSURANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes and tracks status of Initial and Follow-up UIR reports to the state.
  • Assists in completion of UIR investigations.
  • Monitors and ensures accurate agency documentation and UIR documentation.
  • Observe staff performance/behavior during recreational events and house visits in accordance with MAS policies and provide feedback to the Director of Residential Services.
  • Observe the operations of the group homes in accordance with MAS policies and provide feedback to the Director of Residential Services.
  • Ensure that the residence has a home-like atmosphere, that the individuals’ rights are upheld, that they are given responsibilities within the home and that they are active in making decisions about their lives.
  • Ensure that all licensed homes meet health and safety standards and are maintained in a manner consistent with the general community standards.
  • Monitor completion and accuracy of records in the homes on all individuals supported by MAS.
  • Monitor the accurate completion of Medication Administration Records by staff on at least a monthly basis. Ensure incident reporting procedures (UIR) are followed for any errors.
  • Provide administrative support to the Support Managers and programs as needed.
  • Make weekly site visits.
  • Conduct monthly Quality Assurance checks of each home and submit reports to Program Director for review.
  • Serve as an independent reviewer of Individual Habilitation Plans and Monthly Reports ensuring that all individuals are provided a program that develops independent living skills and meets the needs of each individual.

RECREATION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and participate in individual and group activities in-house and in the community that are commensurate with individuals cognitive, physical, social abilities and interests.
  • Complete monthly recreational calendars reflecting planned individual and group, agency and community-based activities.
  • Conduct quarterly recreation meetings in each community residence to establish the recreational desires of the individuals and plan/follow up accordingly.
  • Complete Recreation and Leisure Surveys annually for each individual supported by MAS.
  • Register individuals for activities, events and classes, as required, in conjunction with the Support Managers.
  • Communicate activity information to management team members and parents/guardians.
  • Accept input and feedback from parents/guardians regarding coordination of events/ activities and provide support for their needs and requests in relation to the activities program when feasible.
  • Assign recreation activities to the Support Managers and obtain feedback on the outcomes.
  • Assess and document the appropriateness of each activity for each individual as needed.
  • Coordinate annual vacations, holiday party, family picnic and MAS drama production.
  • Oversee the purchase and inventory of equipment and supplies needed for specific activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of fund-raising activities.
  • Establish photo albums in the office and in the community, residences outlining the individuals’ participation in activities.
  • Assist the Support Managers in planning adequate recreational activities on days that their school/work site is closed.
  • Ensure that Recreation and Leisure activities are consistently carried out and appropriate.

Requirements

  • College degree in the social services field and three years’ experience in planning, developing, and implementing recreation programs for individuals with disabilities;
  • Valid Driver’s License in NJ and clean driving record

Must clear:

  • Criminal History Background Check;\
  • CARI Clearance;
  • Check for abuse of an intellectually or developmentally disabled person;
  • Central Registry Check;
  • Drug Testing for controlled dangerous substances.
  • Lift or assist in lifting disabled adults as medically necessary.
  • Intermediate to Advanced PC skills with proficiency in: MS Office including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
