What are the responsibilities and job description for the Annual Giving Officer position at MIDLAND UNIVERSITY?
Midland University, a private liberal arts University in Fremont, NE, is seeking an Annual Giving Officer. The Office of Institutional Advancement’s Annual Giving Officer educates alumni, parents, and current students about the importance of current dollars to the operation of the college and provides opportunities and encouragement for constituents to maintain and increase annual fund dollars and participation. The Annual Giving Officer will manage all aspects of implementation and execution of Annual Giving campaigns, in partnership with the Director of Development, in support of the overall mission of the University. The Annual Giving Officer will also serve as the steward for a portfolio of current and prospective donors, and will be expected to meet short-term and long-term goals within a leadership giving program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Manage and execute the strategic direction of Midland’s Annual Giving campaigns
a) Develop strategies and tactics to effectively solicit all segments of the Midland University constituency, which include but are not limited to:
- Alumni annual giving appeals
- Athletic and extra-curricular fundraisers
- Parent solicitations
- Scholarship solicitations
- Employee giving
- Club and society membership giving
- Senior Legacy Challenge
b) Help coordinate and manage Midland University’s Giving Day, and other crowd funding opportunities as appropriate
c) Report performance to key constituencies on a regular basis including the Vice President for Institutional Advancement
d) Collaborate with offices across campus, including but not limited to, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications, Business and Community Development, and Alumni Relations
2. Cultivate existing and prospective annual gift donors and increase annual giving
a) Develop strategies to effectively engage and steward alumni and donors to increase their annual giving to $1,000 or more annually
b) Meet with and engage alumni and donors to increase annual support and effectively steward them through the donor pipeline
c) Manage personal portfolio of alumni, donors, and donor prospects and participate in face-to-face visits to cultivate, steward, and solicit constituents
d) Work with a team to identify, qualify, and steward prospective major gift prospects
3. General Responsibilities
- Assist the Gifts & Database Specialist with gift and data entry and record management as appropriate
- Assist the Vice President, Director of Development, and Director of Alumni Relations with other programs and projects as needed
- Support special events hosted by the Office of Institutional Advancement
- Support donor relations activities such as game-day suites and tailgates
- Attend networking events on campus and in the community
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required
- 3-5 years of relevant experience (Areas might include: sales, development/fundraising, higher education, alumni relations, annual fund, non-profit, etc.)
- Some local travel required
- CFRM or CFRE credential preferred
- Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
- Experience with program building
- Experience with solicitation across multiple platforms
