The Midland School District is accepting applications for two Special Education Teachers to fill one opening at Midland Elementary and one at Midland High School. The primary role of the Special Education Teacher is to develop and provide specialized instruction, assessments, and program planning for students with disabilities that fall under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Essential Functions of the position include:
- Provide instruction, assessment, and program planning for IEP entitled students.
- Participate in the preparation of Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives for eligible students.
- Monitor and evaluate progress and behavior of IEP entitled students; prepare progress reports, as appropriate.
- Research, obtain and provide instructional materials for special education services.
- Prepare appropriate due process paperwork and participate in IEP team meetings.
- Serve as an informal resource for students, parents, district personnel, and community organizations; respond to inquiries and provide information, recommendations, and interpretation of student records.
- Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities and student progress and behavior; retrieve official records for parents and District personnel, as requested.
- Coordinate and conduct various team meetings and implement team recommendations as assigned.
- Train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel; organize and conduct in-services for parents or staff, as directed.
- Operate a variety of office and classroom equipment including a computer and assigned software.
- Perform related duties, as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of all students and staff members.
- Uphold the Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Follow all federal, state, and local laws.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree or higher required.
Certifications: Arkansas Teacher's License with K-6/7-12 Special Education or be willing to apply for ALP.
