What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Teacher, 4 Year Old Preschool Program position at Midland Public Schools?
Status: Full-time; benifit eligible
Assignment:
The Lead will plan and implement an effective developmentally appropriate program based on a research-based, high quality curriculum that meets the needs of the children.
Lead Staff Person Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daily planning and implementation of curriculum to meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of each child
- Create an environment with well-established routines and smooth transitions
- Guarantee a safe environment by providing constant supervision, appropriate arrangement of space and accurate maintenance of equipment
- Develop a calm, pleasant environment in the classroom in which children and families feel comfortable and secure
- Responsible for attendance records, sign-in/sign-out, accident reports and other required record keeping
- Participate in ongoing in-service training and collaboration as required
- Assist with all procedures and activities relating to maintaining high standards and compliance for the program
- Develop a strong home to school relationship through effective communication
- Adhere to all employment regulations as outlined in NEOLA policies for Midland Public Schools
Job Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an early childhood endorsement (ZA/ZS) or a bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education with specialization in preschool teaching
- Must be certified or able to certify in First Aid and CPR
- Criminal Background and Central Registry check is required for employment
