Job Summary

The CNC Programming Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce precision plastic components that meet customer specifications, quality standards, and production deadlines. This role develops, modifies, and maintains Mastercam programs while applying technical knowledge of plastic materials, machining processes, tooling, and precision measuring instruments. The ideal candidate will focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement to consistently produce high-quality parts.

Duties

  • Prepare CNC programs as per drawings/instructions using Mastercam, Solidworks and Autocad. Able to generate CNC programs to support new products/tooling projects.
  • Assist estimator on quotations for complex parts or one-of-a-kind orders.
  • Confer with manufacturing, engineering, programmers, estimators and other personnel to resolve machining and programming issues.
  • Required to set up and operate CNC machines with no supervision and be able to help train or instruct others on set-ups.
  • Identify, resolve and/or communicate job or machine problems. Maintain safe and clean work area.
  • Review blueprints and setup sheets to make parts according to customer specifications.
  • Make adjustments and tool offsets as needed.
  • Perform first article inspections and collaborate with Quality Control to ensure high quality parts are produced.
  • Utilize gauging equipment to check parts and properly set up area near machine.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in CNC machining, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes, including Haas, Doosan Puma, or comparable equipment.
  • Proficiency in Mastercam required, experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Ability to create, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs based on drawings, blueprint, and setup instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, speeds and feeds, offsets, and tool adjustments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, tolerances, and job specifications.
