Background
Midland ISD (MISD) has been awarded several grants to increase the LEA’s capacity to identify, enroll, and provide wraparound services to address the unique needs of homeless children and youth due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Position Function/Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Grant Project Coordinator is to support the Executive Director of Student Services and the Student Services Department by supporting grant applications and executing grants related to homeless children and youth. The Grant Project Coordinator will ensure that all grants are executed in accordance with federal and state guidelines.

This is a 100% grant-funded position with an anticipated end date of July 31, 2024. Although the grant is expected to end on that date, additional funding may be obtained to extend the grant beyond the end date. Employment in this position is considered to be at-will and may be terminated at any time regardless of the end date of the grant. Major Responsibilities
- Work with leadership to design and plan grant applications
- Work with leadership to implement grants
- Ability to determine and document the unique needs of homeless children and unaccompanied youth caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Ability to prioritize and document the unique needs of homeless children and unaccompanied youth through a data driven plan for the use of funds.
- Work effectively with multiple groups of stakeholders and internal clients to deliver high quality products on an ongoing basis.
- Self-motivate and demonstrate capacity to prioritize, ensuring time is spent on highest leverage actions
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to generate meaningful insights and to problem solve.
- Communicate efficiently: break down large and complex analyses into actionable recommendations while reserving the ability to drill deeper as needed.
- Proficient in advanced features in Excel, Power point and Google suite.
- Outstanding written and oral communication and facilitation skills
Qualifications
The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground and improving life outcomes for all kids while focusing on homeless children and unaccompanied youth. The candidate should have proven experience managing people and multiple work streams. The successful candidate will most likely have had management experience and a minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated operating experience and leadership. The requirements for this position are:
Education: Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree highly desired- Strategic Vision and Agility: Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into a work plan
- Leadership and Organization: Capacity for managing and leading people; ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top-notch leaders from the bottom up, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed
- Action Oriented: Enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance to leadership and take unpopular stands when necessary
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Sense of humor, ability to work in a dynamic environment a significant plus
