Job Description
The Primary responsibility of the Trash Tech is to remove trash, dirty linen, biohazardous materials, pharmacy waste and recycling from all areas of the hospital and place it in properly in its designated location. Performs any other Environmental Service related duties as needed by his/her direct supervisor and or management.
SHIFT & SCHEDULE:
Full Time, Days, 7:00am - 3:30pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Understands departmental organizational chart
- Understands Departmental dress code
- Knows proper hand washing techniques
- Understanding of methods to prevent cross contamination
- The wearing of appropriate PPE
- Knowledge of proper use/disposal of gloves
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Equivalent work experience is a plus.
- Required to complete one (1) hour of hospital provided continuing education hours upon hire and annually for Advanced Sterile Processing Certification. Education will focus on the appropriate cleaning practices to be followed when in departments that process instruments for sterile use (i.e., Sterile Processing, Endoscopy).

Ø Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
