What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Clerk WRTTC position at Midland College?
This person will provide administrative support and assist in the day-to-day operations of the WRTTC in the General Purpose Lab. They are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and assistance to students, staff and faculty. This position requires a combination of customer service, administrative support tasks and basic problem-solving skills. This role requires a dedicated individual who is committed to providing exceptional service and furthering the Midland College Mission and Core Values.
- Report to work at the scheduled work time; open the lab for operation in a punctual manner
- Greet students, staff and faculty, entering the General Purpose Lab, in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer phone calls and in-person inquiries
- Able to direct phone calls to the appropriate party
- Assist with filing, data entry, and maintenance of records
- Assist with administrative tasks as requested by staff or faculty
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure efficient operation of the General Purpose Lab
- Responsible for monitoring students’ use of the General Purpose Lab
- Ability to follow instructional directions and effectively communicate information to dual credit and general students
- Monitor students who are testing in the General Purpose Lab or in the library
- Monitor students in a classroom setting, in the absence of the instructor; ensure that the students work on assigned classwork (prepared by the instructor) during class time
- Keep the General Purpose Lab clean, in order, and suitable for studying
- Provide minor maintenance of printers and copiers, such as clearing jams and replacing toner
- Request supplies such as paper, toner, and other miscellaneous items in a timely manner for daily operation of the General Purpose Lab
- Assist instructors with computer equipment, as needed, and provide support to all users of the General Purpose Lab
- Assist Dual Credit Team with assigned clerical duties
- Maintain a daily sanitizing schedule
- Perform other computer maintenance duties as required
- Comply with all FERPA guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Knowledge of basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office suite)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Must maintain a positive work environment, friendly attitude, be dependable, and comply with all safety requirements
- Ability to follow directions from staff, faculty or testing coordinator in regards to student testers
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- College Coursework Preferred
- Previous Administration or Customer Service
- Experience with multi-line telephone
Physical Demands
