Department: SecondaryTitle: Secondary Interventionist Job Summary:The Secondary Interventionist provides targeted, research-based academic support to students in grades 6–12 who are struggling to meet grade-level standards. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, counselors, and families, the Interventionist develops and implements individualized and small-group intervention plans designed to close learning gaps while nurturing the spiritual and personal growth of each student.

This role requires a deep commitment to serving students with patience, compassion, and a genuine belief that every child, made in God's image, is capable of growth and success.Lines of Authority:Reports to the Secondary PrincipalsEducation:Bachelor’s degree in education, Special Education, Reading, or a related field.Required Personal Qualities:

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid state teaching license or eligibility for licensure
  • Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching or intervention experience, preferably at the secondary level
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based reading and/or math intervention strategies
  • Proficiency in data analysis and progress monitoring tools
  • Active, professing Christian faith with lifestyle consistent with the school's statement of faith
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with students, families, and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Reading Intervention, Learning Disabilities, or related field
  • Training or certification in structured literacy
  • Experience with MTSS/RTI frameworks in a school setting
  • Experience in a Christian school environment

Hours:This is a full-time, self-contained position

Essential Functions

Essential functions of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following functions. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Academic Intervention & Instruction
  • Identify students in need of academic intervention through universal screening, teacher referrals, and data analysis
  • Design and implement targeted small-group and individual intervention sessions in reading, writing, and/or mathematics
  • Use evidence-based intervention programs and strategies aligned with school curriculum
  • Monitor student progress using formative assessments and adjust instructional plans accordingly
  • Co-teach or provide in-class support in collaboration with content-area teachers as needed
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of student performance, progress monitoring data, and intervention logs
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, counselors, and parents regarding student progress and intervention plans
  • Facilitate or participate in parent-teacher meetings to share data and discuss support strategies
  • Provide professional development to faculty on intervention strategies, learning differences, and data-informed instruction.
  • Faith Integration & Student Support
  • Incorporate a biblical worldview into all interactions, modeling Christian character and servant leadership
  • Pray with and for students, offering spiritual encouragement alongside academic support
  • Foster a safe, grace-filled learning environment where students feel known, valued, and motivated to grow
  • Partner with families to reinforce a home-school connection grounded in shared Christian values
  • Administrative & Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA and school policy
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, professional development, and in-service days
  • Remain current on best practices in intervention and educational research
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
