What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cat5 Cabling Field Technician (1099 Contractor) position at Midknight Tech, LLC?
We are looking for experienced Low-Voltage Field Technicians / Cable Installers to join our growing nationwide network. If you have hands-on experience with Cat5e, Cat6, structured cabling, network installation, or low-voltage systems, this is a great opportunity to get consistent, high-paying work in your area.
This is a 1099 contractor role—you choose your jobs, set your schedule, and get paid weekly.
Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A network cabling
- Troubleshoot and repair low-voltage wiring (voice, data, POS, security, AV)
- Read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and scope-of-work instructions
- Mount, configure, and deploy devices (network switches, access points, IP cameras, POS systems, AV equipment)
- Safely and efficiently use hand and power tools
- Communicate with project managers and clients on-site
- Complete jobs on time with proper documentation and photo reports
Requirements:
- 1 years of experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, or network installation
- Skilled in punchdowns, tone and probe, and cable testing
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to job sites
- Own basic PPE and tool set (drill, snips, fish tape, etc.)
- Smartphone with data plan for job check-in and updates
- Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred (not required):
- BICSI Certification
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Lift certification
- Fiber optic cabling experience
