MECHANICAL PRODUCT ENGINEER III
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out design and development activities that support the smooth transition of R&D initiatives into finished products.
• Perform configuration management tasks across Midé’s product offerings in partnership with quality management.
• Review and revise design documents and BOMs as required by ECO/ECR processes or ISO standards.
• Create and maintain complete product-level drawing packages, layouts, and technical specifications in alignment with product-line requirements and relevant restrictions such as ITAR, EAR, SBIR, and proprietary/confidential guidelines.
• Work with production and quality teams to produce and maintain manufacturing process documentation that ensures consistent production and quality standards are maintained.
• Participate in design and drawing reviews with an emphasis on DFM/DFA principles, proper tolerancing, BOM organization, and suitable manufacturing methods.
• Collaborate regularly with mechanical, electrical, and software teams, as well as quality, production, and customer support.
• Plan, perform, and document tests on products as part of NPI and/or lifecycle maintenance activities and suggest modifications to product specifications as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Strong technical capability in designing, analyzing, building, testing, and repairing mechanical systems.
• Solid understanding of dimensional standards, tolerancing, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).
• Proficiency with relevant software tools, including at least one solid modeling system (SolidWorks preferred; PDM/DDM experience beneficial), one detailed part drawing tool, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skilled in at least one PLM platform, such as Design Data Manager (DDM).
• Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes, plus experience with design for manufacture principles.
• Basic statistical background to support the creation and use of Statistical Process Control data.
• Experience managing ECO/ECR processes and obtaining agreement from involved stakeholders.
• Experience developing and performing test plans, including environmental, vibration, shock, and functional testing.
• Ability to manage time effectively while working on multiple projects.
• Strong problem-solving capability, including root-cause analysis of complex systems.
• Excellent analytical reasoning ability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and interpersonal interactions.
BONUS SKILLS
• Familiarity with DDM PLM tools.
• Background in NVH, including work with accelerometers, shock/vibration testing, and data interpretation.
• Experience with part inspection and metrology.
• Exposure to design, production, or operation of commercial or military maritime hardware/structures, including knowledge of materials suitable for marine settings.
• Project leadership experience.
• Experience with regulatory requirements such as FCC and CE.
• Understanding of ITAR and EAR requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product engineering, sustaining engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment.
