Job Title: Summer School Teacher
Broad Function:
The Summer School Teacher, reporting to the Summer School Coordinator, will plan and implement Literacy instruction or Math instruction for students entering grades 1 - 6.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Develop lessons for students using the HMH Into Reading Module 11 or 12;
Plan, implement, and assess Project Based Learning units;
Provide students with the opportunity to express their learning through personalized activities.
Supervise students during daily breakfast, lunch, arrival, and dismissal transition;
Collect and analyze student data;
Complete an end of program progress report for each student worked with;
Communicate progress of students to their family on an ongoing basis throughout program;
Promote positive behavior during all activities and transitions;
Assist Summer School Coordinator in morning drop off and afternoon transition;
Manage behavior issues/concerns in accordance with established behavior policies;
Other duties as assigned by the Summer School Coordinator
Compensation:
$31.93 per hour (certified rate)
Schedule:
Pre-summer school professional development, planning, & room preparations - June 22 - June 25 (9:00 - 12:00 pm.)
Summer School will be 4 weeks, July 6th-July 30th, Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-3:00pm
Qualifications:
CT Teaching Certification;
Demonstrated ability to motivate and engage students in learning activities;
Instructional proficiency in literacy or math area required;
Knowledge and experience with the Connecticut Core Standards in ELA, and differentiated instructional teaching strategies required;
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams and groups (teachers, parents, administrators and support staff);
First Aid/CPR Certification Preferred.
