Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Per Diem Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role offers flexible scheduling to support outpatient clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, and specialized departments such as dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, and emergency medicine. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide exceptional patient care, assist with medical procedures, and support administrative functions to ensure smooth clinic operations. Your expertise will help deliver high-quality healthcare services in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient interactions.
Duties
- Perform patient intake processes including collecting medical histories and documenting vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures across various specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and emergency medicine
- Support medication administration under supervision and prepare patients for diagnostic tests such as X-ray imaging or laboratory procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding and detailed patient notes
- Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Support inpatient and outpatient care activities, including level I trauma center protocols and Level II trauma center procedures
- Provide medical-surgical support, including wound care, medication management, and vital sign monitoring in diverse settings such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics clinics
- Assist with medical equipment setup and operation, including X-ray machines or other diagnostic tools as trained
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety protocols in all clinical activities
Experience
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program is required
- Prior experience working in hospital settings, outpatient clinics, or urgent care environments is highly preferred
- Experience with dermatology procedures or hospital medicine units is advantageous
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology essential for accurate documentation
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, medication administration, and emergency protocols is necessary
- Previous involvement in Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine environments is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to support diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), or surgical patients in medical-surgical units
