Requirements
- Masters Diploma in
- NYS Teaching Certificate
- Submit to a background check and fingerprinting
- 30 clock hours every two years of professional development
- Physical exam as required
- Bilingual
Responsibilities: (includes but not limited to)
- Plan and implement a daily program that meets the MCSD requirements (Birgance, Fundations, Hegerty)
- Supervise and give directions to the classroom assistant(s)
- Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as positive reinforcement
- Attend district meetings and trainings as required by the District
- Keep track of the attendance and absences of children
- Keep organized files and data on each student and the allotted work to track progress throughout the year
- Ability to meet deadlines for certain things (Quarterly report cards, testing)
- Communicate nonverbally/verbally with students
- Teach basic academic skills such as colors, numbers, and shapes
- Prepare instructional materials
- Confer with parents, administrators, and district heads to ensure goals are met
- Modify the traditional education curriculum to meet children's needs
