What are the responsibilities and job description for the MCPASD Food Service Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Clerk position at Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District?
6.5hrs per day, 6:00am - 1:00pm (schedule may vary during time shown), school year calendar (194 days)
Performs all tasks within the professional commissary facility, including the planning and management of food products as assigned, bulk preparation of food utilizing large scale equipment, standard baking responsibilities utilizing large scale equipment, food safety and sanitation responsibilities for bulk preparation, packaging and shipping of prepared products and the safe operation of all food service equipment; able to perform all tasks assigned to building level Food & Nutrition Service employees; able to support and fill in for Central Kitchen Production Manager and Food & Nutrition Service positions throughout the district as needed.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Receive food and supply orders into warehouse and send produce orders out to all school sites. Reviews all products received and signs off on invoicing; pick orders for regular weekly deliveries to school sites; maintain freezer and dry storage inventories; conduct periodic freezer pulls for Central Kitchen production; assist with donation product consolidation and pick up; maintain and monitor distribution cart inventory including weekly cleaning. Maintains the floors of the nutrition dock area, storage areas and central kitchen to meet departmental requirements for sanitation as set by the Assistant Coordinator. Performs all skilled duties necessary to meet the School Nutrition Department’s standards for safe, quality food products utilizing standardized recipes within the time constraints dictated by the commissary supply schedule under the direction of the Central Kitchen Production Manager.
- Organizes assigned products through a rotation structure to include entrée, soup, salad, baking, vegetable preparation and support.
- Proficient in all duties of Food & Nutrition Service staff (prepares entree, vegetables, salad and other food items; washes dishes, product assembly, cleans equipment/work areas, sets up serving lines, serves food and restocks as needed) to support service sites as needed.
- Achieves professional product management through accurate documentation as required.
- Competent to conduct monthly physical inventory and weekly order selection with minimum supervision utilizing mathematical accuracy.
- Maintains high standards of sanitation for production, service, cleanup, product storage and receiving.
ASSOCIATED FUNCTIONS:
- Operates computer as cashier dependent upon site and rotation assignment.
- Contribute to the positive site work environment through effective communication and problem solving.
- Able to substitute for all Food & Nutrition Service staff as needed.
- Attend all district school nutrition staff meetings and any head cook meetings when filling in for a head cook.
- All other duties as assigned which relate to functions of the job.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform assigned work independently.
- Manual and intellectual dexterity to perform job functions.
- Aptitude for accurate compound mathematical calculations.
- Ability to perform effectively in a complex production environment under time pressure.
- Basic computer experience with production, inventory and transport software.
- Capacity to develop positive professional relationships.
- Aptitude to earn Serve Safe Certification if desired.

- 3 to 5 years previous experience within a professional production facility.

- PHYSICAL:
- This position is performed indoors and defined as heavy work. Some activities are repetitive motion such as lifting and stacking cases.
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods up to 4 hours.
- Must be able to perform heavy physical work, regularly lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance.
- Must be able to reach in all directions and bend/stoop to store and retrieve product.
- Must have dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard, hand tools, power lifts and other equipment such as fax machine, printers, etc.
- Hearing activity requires the ability to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone.
- Must be able to complete job duties in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm, as well as in both room temperature and cold temperatures (coolers and freezers).
- Must have the ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and attention to detail.
