What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Public Safety Academy Nurse position at Middlesex Sheriff’s Office?
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) is seeking qualified candidates for our Youth Public Safety Academy (YPSA). The goal of the YPSA is to establish respect and trust between children and law enforcement professionals. Counselors will help children build confidence and work as a team while focusing on the duties and responsibilities of law enforcement personnel.
Duties:
Under direct supervision of the YPSA Director and/or Senior Counselor, the RN/LPN/Counselor must be able to work from 7AM to 5PM (flexible hours) Monday - Friday at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office YPSA located in Chelmsford, MA. RN/LPN/ Counselors work on a contractual seasonal basis from June 29, 2026 through August 7, 2026. Must be able to dispense medication and perform first aid as needed. Make appropriate entries into infirmary log, and account for medication, supplies and equipment located in work area. Must respond to medical emergencies and interact with medical staff. Account for YPSA cadets and counselor’s whereabouts. Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area. Must work well with children in a positive educational environment and have the ability to teach 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12-year-old children about public safety. Perform other related work as needed.

Qualifications:
- Eighteen (18) years or older; possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Prior to start date.
- Possess and maintain a current active RN/LPN License from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Must attend a temporary training academy.
