Overview
This position will be engaged in tasks involving banking and debtor/creditor law and regulation, probate, corporate governance, general legal research, contract database management, legal department records maintenance, land registry filings, intellectual property management, litigation and investigative support, and general administrative organizational needs within the Legal Department. Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Subject to oversight by other department personnel: independently supports branch employees in resolving customer service legal issues; assists with management of contracts database and approved attorneys process; prepares registry filings; and organizes/monitors license and trademark filings.
- Subject to oversight by other department personnel: reviews trustee summons documents and prepares trustee answers.
- Handles litigation-related projects entailing gathering and organizing materials and interfacing with outside counsel and internal clients.
- Responsible for special projects including, but not limited to: research and presentation preparation; myriad corporate governance and corporate record-keeping issues; procedure reviews/updates as assigned; and making presentations to retail personnel on legal issues and serving on Bank-wide committees, on an as-needed basis, as a representative of the Legal Department.
- Other: maintains confidentiality of assignments, privileged information and contacts; refers sales opportunities to other departments in support of established Bank objectives; ensures full compliance with the Bank’s information security policies and procedures (as well as other Bank policies and procedures); performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines; and performs other duties as may be required.
Requirements
Education
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school and license to practice law in Massachusetts (current or pending)
Work Experience
- 1-2 years of prior probate, banking, corporate and/or financial services law experience in a law firm, law clinic and/or corporate legal department is Preferred

- Must be well organized, energetic and efficient.
- Must be able to patiently and effectively communicate complex legal issues to non-lawyers of all levels and work well under pressure while maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including fluency in Word, Excel and Outlook applications.
- Self-confidence, a strong desire to learn and intellectual inquisitiveness are essential to this position.
- This position is located in downtown Natick, MA and parking is provided. It does not entail a remote or hybrid-remote work schedule.
