Position: Paraprofessional - General Education
Position Summary:
The Technology Paraprofessional provides direct instructional support to elementary students through technology-based learning experiences that promote digital literacy, creativity, problem-solving, and responsible technology use. This position functions as a special area instructional support position, similar to an enrichment class, by facilitating age-appropriate technology lessons aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and division instructional goals. The Technology Paraprofessional works under the supervision of school administration and collaborates with instructional staff to support student learning.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of educational technology tools and digital learning platforms.
- Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Essential Functions:
- Provide technology enrichment instruction to elementary students in a scheduled classroom setting.
- Deliver age-appropriate lessons that promote digital literacy, keyboarding, computational thinking, creativity, and responsible digital citizenship.
- Supervise and engage students in hands-on technology activities and projects.
- Assist students in developing foundational technology skills, including navigating digital platforms and using educational applications.
- Support student learning through technology-based activities that reinforce classroom instruction and division learning goals.
- Prepare instructional materials, technology resources, and learning activities for student use.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and effective technology learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback regarding participation and skill development.
- Encourage collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and creativity among students.
- Maintain student behavior expectations consistent with school and division policies.
- Assist with the organization, care, and basic maintenance of classroom technology equipment used by students.
- Promote safe, ethical, and responsible use of technology resources.
- Participate in school activities, professional development, and division initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Education, Educational Technology, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience using instructional technology and educational software preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout a classroom setting for extended periods.
- Ability to supervise and actively engage students in instructional activities.
- Ability to lift and move classroom technology equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers, tablets, and instructional technology devices.
- Visual acuity necessary to monitor student activities and instructional materials.
Supervision Exercised:
None. This position does not supervise employees but is responsible for the supervision and safety of students during instructional activities.
